The Stand is definitely a classical read. I never thought something (another story!) about the Kennedy assassination would be interesting, but you have definitely showed me how King has once more created a story and world we want to step into.Diane Schultznoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8056815460076050228.post-4646930891967966242012-11-29T15:01:38.228-05:002012-11-29T15:01:38.228-05:00I'm not a fan of King's horror novels, so ...I'm not a fan of King's horror novels, so I wasn't sure about reading 11-22-63. At least we do remember the Fifties and Sixties. When younger people talk about some style or attitude being characteristic of the Seventies or Eighties, I confess I don't have a clue what they're talking about. Those were my child-rearing years, but I don't know if that's an excuse or even a reason.Elizabeth Zelvinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13944424094949207841noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8056815460076050228.post-13568415531319930672012-11-29T12:54:34.094-05:002012-11-29T12:54:34.094-05:00Oh yes, I remember all of it Liz, and we must have...Oh yes, I remember all of it Liz, and we must have passed like two ships in 1963 as that was the year I got my job at Eastern Airlines in NYC, right across the street from Stern's department store.
I remember all that stifling dress codes too.
Think I'm going to read this one too, as I have a WIP in the works during that time period.
PatgPatghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01046665022709722606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8056815460076050228.post-50497291892461150962012-11-29T12:32:07.085-05:002012-11-29T12:32:07.085-05:00I'm also on the leading edge of the Baby Boom....I'm also on the leading edge of the Baby Boom. I don't mind being part of the "history" aspect but I'm saddened at the loss of the collective knowledge. None of the contestants on Jeopary knew that a five-gallon gas can was called a "Jerry can".
