From what I've heard, most big houses don't give the writer any say in the design, and a writer is helpless if s/he hates the cover. Smaller presses do get the author involved and may ask the writer for suggestions.<BR/><BR/>I like simple covers too. Writers needs to take a stroll around a large chain bookstore and just look--see what pops out, and see what they remember after the fact, or when they see it again.
