I love, love, love four of his earlier Spenser books (Early Autumn, Paper Doll, and Mortal Stakes) and still find him readable, even though he's basically phoning them in now. But Jesse Stone sounds like Spenser, minus the old sharp wit, and Sunny Randall sounds like Spenser, minus the wit and plus a skirt.
